Students in School District 81 will be among the first in the nation to pilot the new PARCC assessment in the spring of 2014. The new Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) test is replacing the ISAT as the formal assessment tool to measure student growth in our state, as well as across the country, beginning in 2014-15. PARCC is developing a set of assessments in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) that will be used by all states in the consortium who have agreed to transition to the more rigorous standards of the CCSS.
In preparation for the first administration of PARCC assessments in the 2014-2015 school year, a PARCC Field Test will be administered in the spring of 2014 to more than one million students across all PARCC states. Participating students in grades 3-11 will be assessed in English Language Arts/Literacy or Mathematics.
Students in grades 4, 6 and 8 will take components of the Performance-Based Assessment between March and April of 2014, while students in grade 3 will take the End-of-Year Assessment between May and June.
School District 81 is pleased to offer our support and cooperation in this very important landmark change in the assessment of public education students. We also embrace the opportunity for our own students and schools to experience the administration of PARCC assessments.
