Principal Kristin Kopta Nominated for the 2015 Golden Apple Leadership Award

This week School District 81 was informed that Dr. Kristin Kopta, Principal of Washington School was nominated for the Stanley C. Golder Leadership award. 

The Golden Apple Foundation recognizes active, front-line school leaders who have made an impact transforming teachers and teaching, and who provide high-quality learning opportunities for students.

Dr. Kopta is a well-deserving candidate.  Her devotion to her students and Washington School have inspired many children and educators in the SD81  learning community.  Dr. Kopta has always been an integral part of the District’s achievements, including the expansion of the Bilingual Education program, the use of educational technology in classrooms, the development of student enrichment programs, and a steady climb in student achievement scores for reading and math.  Principal Kopta is an example of a leader whose high standards for achievement have resulted in success for her students. 

This is the second year that Golden Apple will honor a Principal for transformative excellence in school leadership.  Three hundred teachers and one administrator have been inducted into the Golden Apple Academy. School District 81 is proud to recognize Dr. Kopta’s nomination for this prestigious and highly competitive award.
