Principal of Kennedy School, Melissa Kartsimas and the ABC Parent Group have been named recipients of the Distinguished Service Award by by the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA).
This statewide awards program honors individuals and groups who have consistently gone above and beyond on behalf of their schools and whose efforts have enhanced education and conveyed its importance to the community at large. The award recipients are ambassadors of school public relations.
Mrs. Kartsimas is a recipient of an Award of Excellence in the administrator category. Some highlights of why Mrs. Kartsimas was selected for the Award of Excellence include her leadership in educational technology and connecting with colleagues through social media, fostering cooperative partnerships with parents and the community, and her experience working in a school district that is rich in cultural diversity.
The ABC Parent Group is a recipient of an Award of Merit in the team category. The group was established to develop relationships with other parents and strengthen the bonds between teachers, parents, and students. The ABC Parent group is being recognized for their passion and dedication for their children and the schools they attend, their outstanding organization of school community events, and their support and promotion of School District 81 and public education.
